Hades' Cabin: The Sanctuary of Shadows
"Where darkness reveals truth and death whispers of life's value." Home to the children of Hades, god of the Underworld and ruler of the dead.
Inside Hades' Cabin
The Hades Cabin stands as a solemn yet dignified testament to the Underworld's ruler. Once forbidden at Camp Half-Blood, Cabin #13 was finally constructed after the Titan War as recognition of Hades' crucial role in saving Olympus. Though few in number, the children of the Underworld possess a unique perspective on life and death that brings necessary balance to the camp. Within these obsidian walls, they find a rare sanctuary where their often-misunderstood powers are respected rather than feared.
Cabin #13 resembles an elegant gothic mausoleum, built from solid obsidian that absorbs sunlight rather than reflecting it. The structure exudes an aura of dignified darkness, with silver and platinum accents that catch what little light touches the building. Eternally burning green Greek fire torches flank the entrance, which features massive doors of black hardwood reinforced with stygian iron.
Cabin Details
The exterior walls feature bas-relief carvings depicting the various regions of the Underworld, from the Fields of Asphodel to Elysium, all rendered with surprising beauty and reverence. Diamond-shaped windows of smoky glass allow diffused light into the interior while maintaining privacy. Around the cabin grows a garden of unusual plants—pomegranate trees, asphodel flowers, and rare fungi that thrive in shadow—creating a boundary between this domain and the rest of camp.
The roof rises to a central dome studded with precious gems arranged to mimic the constellations as seen from the Underworld—an inverted night sky that glows with subtle luminescence after dark.
